Goals of the course   
Learning objectives
On completion of this course, students will be able to:

1) Become a reflective writer in preparation for writing a meaningful Masters thesis.

2) Gain confidence in undertaking the research process and be aware of research obligations and pitfalls.

3) Articulate research objectives clearly, and situate research within an academic or scholarly context.

4) Utilize the Microsoft Office software and a bibliographic reference manager competently and efficiently to produce documents that meet the HPS requirement.

5) Commence the process in narrating the research in the form of chapter outline, structured according to the approved HIPS thesis style.

6) Describe your Masters thesis research clearly and succinctly, in written and oral forms to the professors and fellow classmates.

Overview of the course   
This course is for Masters level students who are part of the HIPS double degree program. The purpose of this course is to prepare students who are beginning to write their Masters thesis.
