About African Women's condition (1) : focusing on their land rights etc.

テキストに指定している本を参加者とともに輪読し、内容を理解し、東アフリカの女性の処遇について、現在の状況を理解できるようにし、また自らの問題意識をひきだせるようにする。
|
|
|
|
Through reading the text book together with participants, students should try to understand the social, cultural and economic condition for the women in Eastern African countries. And then each student should get at least a point of view of their own to engage with African Studies.

|
たとえばケニアでは、2009年に憲法が改正され、これまで女性にはなかった土地相続の権利をもてるようになった。現在は伝統的な慣習にならってきた村落社会で、その波紋がどのように起きるかが注目される。このようにいま、アフリカは大きく動いている。基本的な流れを知るためにも、土地という重要な財をめぐり、女性がどのような処遇にいるのかを東アフリカを舞台にテキスト、論文、新聞等から学んでいく。

For example in Kenya, the Constitution was amended in 2009 so that women got a right to inherit the land. This change is extremely different from the customary laws, so we have to keep watching how local societies will react. It is a quite clear that African societies face drastic changes, but especially in this seminar we focus on the women’s situation concerning with lands. We will also check other papers and articles from the newspapers.
