Gender and Caste in South Asia
 
授業の目標   
カーストは南アジア社会を特徴づける制度とみなされてきたが、近年、ジェンダーの視点からカーストをめぐるさまざまな現象をとらえる研究が現れ議論が深められてきた、この演習では、南アジアのジェンダーとカーストに関する研究動向について広く知見を広めるとともに、問題抽出能力を高めることをめざす。
 
Goals of the course   
"Castes" has been regarded as the system which defines the South Asian society. Recent studies are paying much attention to the gender perspective constructing the "caste" phenomenon. This seminar aims at acquiring the knowledge about the current academic debates related to the gender and caste so that the participants can locate their own research themes.

南アジアのジェンダーとカーストに関する主要な先行研究を輪読し、報告する。各人の研究テーマについて報告する
 
Overview of the course   
The participants are to report the arguments of the articles/books and join the discussions.

演習での報告と議論への参加（７０％）とアクティブラーニング（３０％）を総合的に評価する
 
Grading system for assessment   
The level of report and discussion in the seminar (70%)
Active Learning (30%).
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
毎回扱う論考・研究書を読み、論点を整理して演習に臨む
 
Preview/review   
The participants are required to read the materials used in the seminar beforehand and review them by making the memo.
