Seminar on transnational sociology（Contemporary French studies）
 
授業の目標   
現代フランスの直面する社会問題を国際社会学の視点から研究する手法を学ぶ。とりわけ、フランスの移民や人種マイノリティに関わるテーマに関して、英語・日本語・フランス語で書かれた学術書・論文を的確に読む能力、論点を掴む能力、批判する能力、そこから自分自身の問題関心に引きつけて研究を深める能力を伸ばす。
 
Goals of the course   
Learn theories and methodologies to understand social minorities' issues in contemporary French societies from the perspective of transnational sociology.
Learn to process thoughts, to explore links between individual readings, to pose questions and to make connections between issues raised in the material and your own concerns and ideas.
 
授業の概要   
指定の文献を各自事前に講読し、当日は報告者による発表とディスカッションを行う。春学期はフランスにおける人種・レイシズムの問題を理解するための歴史的・理論的な枠組みを学ぶ。後半ではイスラモフォビアの事例を取り上げ、さらにジェンダー視点とフェミニズムの視点を交えてフランスにおける人種マイノリティが置かれた状況を考える。参加者の関心に応じた文献の変更も想定している。
 
Overview of the course   
Based on the presentation of a summary for reading assignments by students, discussions in class are designed to deepen individual readings and to develop the ideas on the subject. For the first part of the seminar, we will focus on the theoretical and historical readings on race and ethnicity. For the second part of the seminar, we will study issues such as islamophobia against "veiled women" which are specific to French contexts. Depending on students’ concerns, reading assignments can be changed.

成績評価の方法・基準   
要旨・コメントの事前提出および報告（25%）、議論への参加（25%）、期末レポート（50%）を評価する。
 
Grading system for assessment   
Preparation of reviews and weekly commentaries on the reading assignments (25%), participations in discussions (25%), final paper (50%)
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
参加者は全員事前に文献を読み、要旨とコメントを簡潔にまとめ、当日朝までに提出する。報告者はレジュメを作成し、概要を発表する。
 
Preview/review   
Participants are required to send commentaries on the reading assignments before the class. Students in charge of presentations prepare a review to share with other students.
 
履修上の注意   
文献については別途指定する。フランス語の文献を使う可能性がある。
 
Notes   
Reading assignments will be announced in advance. Depending on the participants, literatures in French will be included in reading assignments.
