Introduction to Salishan Languages

北アメリカ先住民諸語のうち，北西海岸地域で話されるセイリッシュ語族について，特にそのなかでもスライアモン語の音声・音韻，ならびに形態統語法について学び，フィールド調査を通して得たデータを分析し，文法を記述することについて学習する。

北アメリカ先住民諸語のうち，北西海岸地域で話されるセイリッシュ語族について，特にそのなかでもスライアモン語を具体例としてとりあげ，音声・音韻，ならびに形態統語法の概説をする。

おおまかに分けて以下の順に講義を進める。
初回：セイリッシュ語族の概観，話者数に関する現況，フィールド言語について
第2・3回：セイリッシュ語族およびスライアモン語の音声・音韻
第4回以降：スライアモン語形態統語論（概観，語形成，動詞結合価とその増減，「語彙的接尾辞」，重複法，アスペクト）

本講義で触れたセイリッシュ語の特徴と，自分の専門とする言語を対照して考察したレポートを提出してもらう。（A4用紙3枚程度）特に関心があった部分，比較対照がおもしろいと思われる特徴に絞って考察すること。
|
|
|
|
Submit a report (about three A4-size papers) where you should compare the characteristics of Salish and those of the language you specialize in. Be sure to focus on the comparisons which you are especially interested in.
|

|
|
アクティブラーニングとして，セイリッシュ語関連の論文を各自で読んでもらう。
|
|
|
|
Read papers on Salishan languages as an active learning.
|
|
|
適宜ハンドアウトを配布しながら，講義を進める。それぞれが専門とする言語とセイリッシュ語の比較対照を念頭におきながら聴講すること。その点について，授業のなかで時間が許す限り講師から質問をする。
音声学の基本的知識があることが望ましい。できれば声門化音（放出音），側面摩擦音，側面破擦音が調音できるとなお良い。

It is desirable to have basic knowledge of phonetics.
