アメリカにおける奇矯な大統領の登場が象徴するように、非寛容と独善的孤立の国家政策が、現代世界の人々の日常を覆いつつある。民族性、人種、階級、ジェンダー意識などをめぐって闘われ、勝ち取られてきた人類の歴史的資産が、いまや大きな改変をせまられ、失われてゆく危機に直面している。そのようなとき、私たちの文化的・社会的「帰属」とは、誰に、何に向けて問われるべきなのだろうか？ 私たちの「自由」とは、どのような事態からの解放のヴィジョンを意味しているのだろうか？ 非寛容な制度への隷従からの離脱をめざし、文化の混血主義宣言として生まれた『クレオール主義』から四半世紀。いまこの冒険的ヴィジョンをあらためて現在に突きつけ、現代世界にたいするわれわれの批評意識を鍛え直すことがこのゼミナールの目標である。

As represented by the emergence of the bizarre American president, national policies which are self-righteous, isolated without generosity are weighing heavily on daily lives of people in the contemporary world. Our historic properties won by fighting for problems on ethnicity, race, class, and gender are now forced to change drastically or to disappear. Under the circumstances, to whom should we ask for social/cultural belongingness? What does our "freedom" mean? Where are we liberated from?
It has passed a quarter of a century since the instructor created the ideology of "Creolism". Now we will reconsider this venturous vision, and discipline our criticism against the contemporary world again.

アメリカおよび広義のアメリカスにおける19世紀末から20世紀、そして21世紀初頭までの社会・文化的変容の歴史を背景に、文化の混血主義宣言として1991年に刊行された今福龍太著『クレオール主義』の、最新改訂された2017年版を綿密に解読する。とりわけ、執筆当時と、26年後の現在のアメリカ社会、および世界の文化的趨勢を比較対照し、その間の社会変動の意味を歴史的・批判的に考察する。

Closely read the latest edition of "Creolism" by Ryuta Imafuku published in 2017. Especially, compare the current American society and cultural developments around the world with those in 1991 when the first edition of "Creolism" was published. And examine varieties of social changes occurred from 1991 to 2017 historically and critically.

クレオール主義をめぐる思想を深いところから理解するために、テキスト以外に、英語によるさまざまな参考文献を常時参照しながら進める。批評的言説をつくる「ことば」が生まれ出る個人的・内的な意識のありようと、現代にはりめぐらされた微細な社会的インターフェースとの接点を深く感じとり、そのメカニズムを読み取ってゆくねばり強い知的営為が求められる。
