Looking back the history of Taiwan, examine the characteristics of Taiwanese politics. Taiwan is located where the influences of China, Japan and the United States converge, and its political development is drawing attention from the international community. However, we cannot understand Taiwanese politics thoroughly without knowing logic within the democratic politics. We have to look at the movement of political forces and their complicated power balances. We will develop the understanding of Taiwanese politics through lectures and reading literature.
