中央アジア近現代史を研究するために必要な史料言語（ウズベク語などのテュルク系言語とロシア語）の読解力を高めるとともに、最近の研究動向を調べながら受講生各自の研究の方向性を定めることを目標とする。取り上げるテキストは、事前によく読み、関連する事項を調べた上で演習に臨むこと。修士論文を作成する力を養うことが達成の基準となる。

This course assists MA students to read historical sources written in Russian or the Turkic languages, and to decide the direction of his/her own research on the modern history of Central Asia.

受講生の関心に応じて史料を選定し、史料講読を進めるとともに、最近の注目すべき研究論文を適宜取り上げて出席者全員で討議する。

ペレストロイカ以来、中央アジア近現代史の史料環境は劇的に改善され、いまや多種多様な史料の利用が可能となっているが、これらを有効に活用するには史料言語の読解能力を高めることが不可欠である。そこで、基本的な史料を選定して史料講読を進めることを軸とし、あわせて最近の重要な研究論文を選んで、研究の動向や方法を学ぶ機会を設けることにしたい。
アクティブ・ラーニングとして、学期中に２回、指定されたウェブサイトから中央アジア関係の論説・記事を選択してレポートを作成・提出する。

In the beginning of the term suitable source materials are to be selected by the participants. In the end of the term students are required to make a final presentation.
