Methods of grammatical research based on natural language data

従来の文法研究においては、使用のコンテクストから切り離された言語表現を基盤にその記述・分析・理論化の研究が行われることが多かった。しかしなが ら、文法について単に今ある状態を描写するのみならず「文法体系がどのようにして今ある形になったのか」という視点から文法の作りを明らかにしようとしてみると、これまでの研究であまり顧みられていなかった話し言葉を含む実際の言語使用の実態を考えざるをえない。文法は歴史的変化の中で形づくられる体系であり、その変化は言語使用の中で進むからである。
実際の言語使用データに基づいて文法パターンの研究を試みてすぐに思い知るのは、従来の文法研究の中で築き上げられてきた記述・分析枠組みと話しことばの実態の間のミスマッチの大きさである。それは、単に運用（performance）における誤差という性質のものではなく、システムの本質に関わるものである。
そこで、この授業では、言語使用の実態が示唆する文法体系の特性を確認し、その特性を踏まえた文法観に基づく分析・記述枠組み、さらには文法に関して我々が目を向けるべき根源的な研究課題とは何かを考える。

Most of the traditional grammatical research have described, analyzed and theorized grammar based on language expressions which have not necessarily been used in real lives. However, when we try to clarify grammar from the perspective of how the grammar system has been formed into the current one, we cannot help but think of how languages are actually used including spoken languages, which we have not taken into consideration in grammatical research so far.
We will confirm the characteristics of the grammatical system which have been indicated by the actual usage of languages, and think of analysis and descriptive framework based on these characteristics, and furthermore, fundamental research themes on grammar which we should look to.

この授業では、言語使用データを基盤とした文法研究について、それを取り巻くデータ分析・記述・理論的研究をめぐる諸問題を議論しつつ、自分の持つ研究上の問題意識、研究テーマの掘り下げを行う。

Students will discuss various issues on data analysis, description and theories related to grammatical research based on natural language data, and delve deeper into their research themes.

本授業では、授業の目的を達成するために以下の３つの活動を行う：
１) 言語使用を基盤とした言語研究に関する文献講読とディスカッション
２）実際の使用実態に基づいて文法の規則性を考える実習として行う共同研究
参加者の研究言語もしくは日本語の談話データを基盤にして文法体系を捉える方法を受講者全員で議論し模索する。
３）受講者各自の関心に即した研究計画立案
受講者の関心、研究対象言語に即した形で言語使用データに基づく文法研究のテーマを設定し、研究計画を立案する。

２）Joint research on examining regularity of grammar based on the actual usage of languages
３）Making research plans based on students' interests
