We will discuss the theories and concepts necessary for understanding how Europe’s international relations have developed historically.

ウェストファリア体制・西欧主権国家体制の確立から絶対王制時代の戦争と勢力均衡体系、18世紀後半の市民革命・産業革命による資本主義の発達と近代西欧社会の発展、ビスマルク外交、帝国主義論争、第一次世界大戦を経て両大戦間期、冷戦に向かうヨーロッパの国際政治について論じる。

In this course we will discuss European international politics starting from the establishment of Westphalian sovereignty and the sovereign states of Western Europe through to the Period of Absolute Monarchy war, balance of powers, development of capitalism and the development of modern Western society dating back to the late 18th century. We will look at the people's revolution and industrial revolution, Bismarck foreign policy, imperialism controversy, through till the end of the First World War when Europe faced the interwar period and the Cold War period.
