本演習では、今日の西アジア・北アフリカ地域で暮らす人々がどのような政治状況に置かれ、どのような問題に関心を持っているのかを直に把握することを目標とする。
なお、ここで言う西アジア・北アフリカ地域とは、今日のトルコ、イラン、イスラエル、そしてアラブ連盟加盟国が位置する地域を指す。

This seminar aims to directly grasp the political situations in which people living in West Asia and North Africa find themselves today and the kinds of problems in which they are interested.
West Asia and North Afirca means in this seminar the region that consist of Turkey, Iran, Israel and Arab League member countries.

東西アジア・北アフリカ地域の近年の政治の動静に着目し、同地域がはらむ諸問題について考察する。

|
The seminar focuses on recent political movements in West Asia and North Africa and considers problems that exist in this region.

以下のスケジュール／内容で授業を進める。
①論文執筆、解読に関する基礎的知識の教授。
②西アジア・北アフリカ地域の近年の政治の動静などを扱った資料収集。
③西アジア・北アフリカ地域の近年の政治の動静などを扱った資料解読。
④各自の関心に関する報告および質疑応答。

The seminar will proceed according to the schedule/contents below:
1) Lecture on basic knowledge on thesis writing and reading
2) Collection of materials that discuss recent political movements in West Asia and North Africa
3) Reading materials that discuss recent political movement in West Asia and North Africa
4) Presentations on topics in which each student is interested and question-and-answer sessions

出席状況および授業への参加意欲などをもとに総合的に評価する。

The students will be comprehensively evaluated on the basis of their attendance and motivation of class participation.

今日の西アジア・北アフリカ地域の人々の意識に直に触れることがこの演習（そして私自身）の本文ですので、アラビア語、ペルシャ語、トルコ語などの高度な読解力が必須となります。

|
|
Since the main objective of this seminar (and of myself) is to directly touch the awareness of people living in West Asia and North Africa today, advanced-level reading skills of Arabic, Persian, or Turkish are required.
