Political Thoughts and Movements in Modern Arab East 2
 
授業の目標   
現代アラブ世界は、アラブ・イスラエル紛争、湾岸危機・戦争、イラク戦争、「アラブの春」、アル=カーイダに代表される急進的なイスラーム主義勢力の台頭など、さまざまな問題のなかにその身を置いており、そこでの政治や思想・イデオロギーは常に多くの関心を集めている。だが、メディアやアカデミアにおけるアラブ世界観のなかには、現地で起きている事象のすべてをイスラーム教と結びつけようとする「逆立ちしたイスラーム原理主義」や、「テロリズム」と結びつけようとする「誇張された対テロ戦争」擁護論によって彩られているものが少なくない。本講義は、近現代アラブ世界の政治に少なからぬ影響を及ぼした思想・イデオロギーを理解することで、こうした偏向した視点に疑義を呈することをめざす。
 
Goals of the course   
The modern Arab world finds itself in various issues, including the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Gulf Crisis and War, the Iraq War, “Arab Spring” and the rise of radical Islamism forces represented by the al-Qaeda. And politics, thought and ideologies in this world always attract a lot of attention. However, many views of the Arab world in the media and academia are colored by “handstanding Islamic fundamentalism” that intends to associate all phenomena occurring there with Islam and the argument for “exaggerated war on terror” that intends to associate these phenomena with “terrorism.” This course aims to cast doubt on these biased viewpoints, by understanding thoughts and ideologies that have had substantial impacts on the politics of the modern Arab world.

講義内容は、受講者の問題意識を最大限に踏まえて構成していく予定であるが、主に以下のテーマを順次論じる予定である。

出席状況およびリポート提出（学期末）をもとに総合的に評価する。
 
Grading system for assessment   
The students will be comprehensively evaluated on the basis on their attendance and submission of a report (at the end of semester).

Preview/review   
It is recommended to take this course in conjunction with “Political thoughts and movements in the modern East Arab 2,” which will be offered in the second semester. Students who are interested not only in the modern history of the Arab world but also current affairs (the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Iraq issue and the Lebanon issue) are welcome to take this course.
 
履修上の注意   
後期に開講される「近現代東アラブの政治思想・政治運動2」と併せて受講することが望ましい。アラブ世界の近現代史だけでなく、時事問題（アラブ・イスラエル紛争、イラク問題、レバノン問題など）に関心のある学生の受講を歓迎する。
