混迷を極めつつ大規模に変容する現代中東世界の中で、イランは台風の目である。現在のイランを理解するためには教科書的な「現代史」の知識だけでなく、急激な社会の変容について理解を深める必要がある。本講義では現代の中東に関心のある学生を対象にイランの最も基礎的な知識から説き起こし、講師がこれまで取り組んできたイラン地方社会の変容と映像表現（いわゆる「イラン映画」など）を主な題材とし、現在進行中のイランをめぐる話題なども適宜織り込みながら授業を構成し、最終的にはイランおよび中東についての具体的な課題に対して自ら考えていくに足る素養を身につけて貰うことを目標としている。

In the drastic changes and political shifts in the contemporary MENA region, Iran has always been at the center. In order to understand today's Iranian situation, we must refer to its social structural shifts in the longer term, at least from 1960's. This lecture is designed to meet the students' interests in the contemporary MENA region, but it mainly fucuses on Iran. Starting from the very basic informations of geography and history of Iran, we then discuss about the structural changes of rural societies in modern Iran. Also using materials of Iranian films and recent documents from internet media, we aim to get enough knowledge and skill to read by ourselves the complexed political arena of MENA region and especially Iran.

まず最初の数回をかけてイランの地理・歴史・文化についての最も基礎的な知識を確認する。その後イランの地方農村部に関する比較的最近の研究成果（日本語）を購読し、解説を行う。さらにイラン映画や講師自身の作成による映像資料をテキストとしてイラン社会の基底にある心性的な問題（ナショナリズム）にまで考察を進めたい。

We start from the introduction of basic knowledges about Iranian geography, history and culture. Then we proceed to read and discuss the text of a recent Japanese publication abut the changes of modern Iranian rural society. Lastly we see materials from Iranian films and try to understand some backgrounds of psyco-nationalistic feelings prevailing in today's younger generations in Iran.

Standings will be estimated based on the activities in the regular classroom and the small reports at the end of the lectures (not all the time).

事前学習： 授業中に講読する教材は必ず全員が事前に目を通し、議論に参加できるよう準備しておくこと。
事後学習： 各授業の最後に適宜小レポートを課すことがある。

Before the class: Students are expected to have finished reading the chapers which will be treated in the next classroom.
After the class: After the lectures, sometimes (but not always) small reports are due to be completed.
