ペルシア語文化の広まりについての理解を深め、9世紀以降の、中東から南アジア、中央アジアにおける広大な地域の文化の形成過程について理解する。

Understand the development of Persian culture deeply.
Obtain knowledge of how Persian culture was formed in the vast area from Middle East, South Asia to Central Asia since the 9th century.

現在は、イラン、アフガニスタン、タジキスタンという３カ国の公用語でしかないペルシア語であるが、歴史的にはアジアの西半分のリンガフランカとして用いられていた。とりわけ、書き言葉としてのペルシア語は、イラン、中央アジア、南アジアを中心とする広大な地域で用いられ、多くの歴史書や文学作品が著された。
本授業ではこれらの地域をペルシア語文化圏とよび、ペルシア語を手がかりにこれらの地域の歴史を再構成する。いわゆるイスラーム世界史ともナショナリズム史観とは異なった歴史像を提供する。

Persian is now an official language of only three countries - Iran, Afghanistan, and Tadzhikistan. However, it was spoken in a west half of Asia in the past. Especially, Persian as a written language was used in the broad area including Iran, Central Asia and South Asia. Many history books and literature were written in the language.
In this course, we call the area as Persian Culture Zone, and review its histories. I will provide students with another historical view, different from Islamic history or nationalistic view.
