多文化社会日本がかかえる矛盾・葛藤を、多角的に分析・考察する視座を磨くことをめざします。
マイノリティの歴史・思想や日本社会の文化的葛藤について、基本的な理解を得ることを達成の基準とします。
近代東アジアの日本植民地研究（朝鮮・台湾ほか）についても理解を深めます。

To have more clear and multifaceted perspective on contradictions and conflicts of Japan as a multi-cultural society.
Students are expected to understand the history and ideologies of minorities and the cultural conflicts in the Japanese society.
Also, to examine studies on colonies by Japanese (Korea, Taiwan, etc.)in modern East Asia.

近代東アジアの日本植民地研究（朝鮮・台湾ほか）もとりあげます。

We will consider ideologies and cultures in Japan, a multicultural society, focusing on the “colonialistic” history of minorities such as Ainu, Okinawan, and Korean people in Japan.
Also, we examine studies on colonies by Japanese (Korea, Taiwan, etc.)in modern East Asia.

春学期にひきつづいて、主にアイヌ民族・沖縄人・在日朝鮮人の歴史・思想や、日本社会の文化的葛藤にかかわる文献を講読します。
近代東アジアの日本植民地研究（朝鮮・台湾ほか）にかかわる文献もとりあげます。
毎回の担当を決め、レジュメをつくって発表・討議をおこなう演習形式ですすめます。
また、各自が関心のあるテーマを決めて、自由研究発表をおこないます。
そして年度末には、自由研究を短い論文（4000字以上）にまとめて提出し、４年次の卒論に向けた第一歩とします。
第1回 イントロダクション
第2回～7回 テキスト講読
（2回分のアクティブ・ラーニングを含みます。
各自の研究テーマに関連するフィールドワークと関連文献の予備学習、レポート提出など）
第8回～14回 自由研究発表
第15回 まとめ・全体討論

As in the spring term, we will read literature mainly on the history and ideologies of Ainu, Okinawan, and Korean people in Japan, and on the cultural conflicts in Japanese society.
We also cover several literature on colonies by Japanese (Korea, Taiwan, etc.) in modern East Asia.
In this seminar, all students have opportunities to make presentations on their own summaries of the assigned sections in the textbook and on the topics of their interest. After each presentation, class discussions on that presentation will follow.
At the end of the year, students will submit short research essays (minimum of 4,000 characters). It will also serve as a good practice for their graduation theses.

2-7. Reading comprehension (2 Active Learning sessions including a fieldwork related to a topic of interest each student has selected, reading relevant documents, and submission of reports.)
