日本の伝統社会に関する史料や文献を読み、事実を検証する方法を学び、社会の諸相を理解することを目標とする。
|

In this course, students will learn how to read historical documents on Japanese traditional society, and practice examining facts. The object of this course is to acquire the skills for building up an image of traditional society, for the first step in writing a graduation thesis.

|
前半は、テキストとして『日本の近世』(中央公論社)1〜18巻とシリーズ『日本史リブレット』(山川出版社)、『日本の時代史』(吉川弘文館)を用い、この中から参加者の興味にあわせて論文を選び、講読し、関連文献や史料をさがしてテキストを補足または批判するレジュメを作成して報告する。導入の時間に、日本の伝統社会の学び方を説明し、参加者の報告に移る。報告レジュメには、次の事項を入れること。1.講読論文の内容要約。2.史料用語・事項の説明。3.論文の理解を助けるための補足史料の提示。4.論文の問題点、自らの意見の提示。5.4を裏付ける関連文献や史料の提示。 後半は、江戸時代後期の江戸とその近郊の社会・風俗を批判的に述べた『世事見聞録』を講読し、当時の社会の様相を具体的に学んでいく。

The subject of this course will be set up considering the student's interest. Students will study the previous research and give one's opinion refering some requisite documents or materials.

"Procedure: 1. Read documents according to your own subject and find points at issue. 2. Set up a hypothesis and construct your opinion refering requisite documents. 3. Each student will give a report of their progress and exchange opinions. 4. Submit a paper of your result as the term-end report.

授業への参加態度30%・報告内容30%・アクティブラーニング20%・学期末の課題20%により総合的に評価する。 参加者は、配布された報告者の論文を事前に読み、意見や質問を授業中で発言できるように準備しておくこと。

『日本の近世』から選んだ報告者の論考を事前に読んでおくこと。また、『世事見聞録』についても、事前に講読し予習しておくこと。

Students are expected to conduct assignments according to their own subject, and to read the presenter's handout and prepare questions or comments in order to be able to engage actively in class.

日本地域研究(講義)を春学期・秋学期とも受講すること。 授業のうちの2回分のアクティブラーニングは、学外において、日本の伝統的町並みや古文書調査を行う。

|
Japanese Area Studies (Lecture) must be taken in both of the spring and fall quarters. For Active Learning, two times of this class will be held off-campus to conduct investigations of historical documents.
