Modern Japanese thought on Asia
 
授業の目標   
近代日本の歴史・思想を、アジア(中国・朝鮮・台湾・東南アジアなど)との連関のなかで、批判的・複眼的に分析する視座を探ります。
近代日本とアジアの歴史・思想が抱える諸問題について基本的な理解を得ること、多角的なアプローチの仕方を身につけることを達成の基準とします。
 
Goals of the course   
Students will explore the perspective of critical and multifaceted analysis of contemporary Japanese history and ideologies on Asia (China, Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, etc.).
The objective is to get fundamental knowledge on various issues that arise in contemporary Japanese and Asian history and ideologies.
 
授業の概要   
東アジアの帝国主義国日本の思想家たちは、アジアといかに向き合ったのか。主に戦間期・戦時期から戦後・冷戦期にかけて、各時代のアジア論を読み解きながら、アジアと日本の相剋・葛藤について批判的・複眼的に考察します。
 
Overview of the course   
The students will learn how Japanese theorists thought about Asia in the imperialism dominated nation in the east Asia. We will look at the relationship between Japan and other Asian countries through Asian theories on each period before, during, and after the War and during the Cold War in a critical and multifaceted way.
