Title（English）   
History and Society of Brazil I
 
授業の目標   
　学術論文とはどういうものかを、形式、構成、叙述方法を含め、実際に優れた学術論文を読むことを通して体得することが第１の目標です。内容面では、ブラジル・ラテンアメリカの歴史と社会への理解を深めるとともに、卒業論文のテーマを見つける。あわせて、研究発表（ゼミ報告）の仕方、ハンドアウトの作成方法（「レジメの切り方」）を習得してもらいます。
 
Goals of the course   
The purpose of this course is to learn what an academic paper is (format, structure, and depiction method) through reading the actual excellent papers. Also, find out a theme of a graduation thesis and learn how to present your research as well as how to make a handout, while understanding deeply the histories of Brazil and Latin America.
 
授業の概要   
ゼミナール形式で共通のテキストを輪読します。
夏学期中に、卒論ゼミと合同で、研究合宿を行います。
 
Overview of the course   
This course is run in a seminal style. Students will read the common textbooks in turns.
During the summer semester, we have a study camp jointly with the graduation seminar team.

成績評価の方法・基準   
平常点（ゼミでの報告、討論への参加状況、小レポートなど）と学期末のレポートによって評価します。学期末のレポートは、少し早いですが、卒業論文の予備論文を書いてもらいます。
 
Grading system for assessment   
In-class performance (reporting in the seminar, participation in discussions, short report) and term-end report.
Term-end report should be a preliminary report for your graduation thesis.
