The aim of this class is to enable the participants to
1) to obtain basic knowledge about state building, and
2) to use Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA) and basic quantitative methods.
|

この授業は国家建設 (state building) を歌謡曲の分析を通じて行うという実験的な試みである。従来、国家建設は政治学および経済学の分野で何らかのエヴィデンスをもとに測定することがなされてきた。こうした主流派の試みに抗し、市民の目を体現するものとして一般に流通する曲を取り上げ、そこから政府や国家のイメージを抽出することで、国ごとの差異を把握することを試みる。
名目上は講義であるが、参加者は積極的な参加が要求される。対象となる国家は教員が読解可能な言語（日本語、英語、スペイン語、ポルトガル語、ケチュア語）が主に話されている国である。対象となる歌謡のジャンルは反体制性が明確に出ているものであれば問わないが、演歌、ヒップホップ、ロックなど扱われる分野は自ずと限られたものになると思われる。
参加者は必ず1回目の授業に出席すること。出席できない場合は授業前にメールで教員に連絡すること。参加希望者多数の場合は選抜を行う。

Participants of this course will undertakes an experimental investigation of measuring state building through anti-regime songs. Principal academic works of state building in the field of political science and economics calculate the degree of state building on the basis of frequently-used evidences such as GDP per capita and tax-GDP ratio. This course goes against the traditional approach: it will focus on anti-regime songs as popular expressions of politics.
Participants will be required to keep up with course assignments including presentation of individual or group research. For his/her presentation students can choose any genre of music from the countries under research: Japanese, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Quechua speaking ones.
Finally, students must be present at the first class (if you cannot, notice me by e-mail BEFORE the class). Selection of students will be carried out if more than 15 students appears.

取り組むべき課題は非常に多くなる。「なんとなく楽しそうだ」といった安易な理由で受講することは勧められない。なお、分析対象となる音源の入手は学生が各自で行うこと。
