Title(English)   
Global Basque Studies
 
授業の目標   
●歴史社会学的アプローチを念頭に置きつつ、世界中に離散するバスク系同胞の現状と彼らの「ホームランド」に対する関係についての理解を深め、そこから得られた知見を、より広い視点から自らのことばで咀嚼して説明できるようになることを目指します。
 
Goals of the course   
- The aim of this course is to deepen students' understanding of the actual situation of Basque Diaspora and its relationship with a putative "Homeland", by adopting a socio-historical approach.
 
授業の概要   
●現代社会において国境を越えて広がるひとの移動を捉えるための基本的視点を複数紹介し、相互に検討します。
●国境を越えて世界中に離散する人的集団における「民族性」と「領域性」の関係性を、バスク・ディアスポラの事例から批判的に考察します。
●また、そのような在外同胞に対する支援策を、国家ではなく、サブ・ナショナルな政治行政単位であるバスク自治州政府が実施していることの意味を考えていきます。
 
Overview of the course   
- Key basic theories to understand actual transnational migration will be explained and examined one another.
- Relationship between "nationality" and "territoriality" seen in diaspora phenomena will be critically analyzed, by referring to the Basque case.
- Significance of the paradiplomacy initiated by such a sub-national entity as the Basque Autonomous Government will be discussed.

成績評価の方法・基準   
●小テスト(複数回実施)、レポート(複数回実施)、授業参加の3つにより、公正に評価します。
●小テストでは、授業内容の理解度を評価します。レポートでは、授業内容に関連した主題について、自らの考えを論理的に構築・展開していく力を評価します。授業参加では、授業中に行われる質疑応答や議論に対して、主体的かつ積極的に発言していく姿勢を評価します。
●小テスト3割、レポート4割、授業参加3割を目安とし、全体で6割以上をとった受講生が、単位認定対象者となります。
●授業への出席は当然のことですから、いわゆる「出席点」というものはありません。正当な理由のない欠席、遅刻、早退は減点の対象となります。また、主体的かつ積極的な授業参加が求められますので、形式的に出席するだけでは良い評価に繋がりません。
 
Grading system for assessment   
- Grading will be based on the results of the followings: (1) Achievement Tests, (2) Brief Essays, and (3) Participation in the class.
- The aim of "Achievement Tests" is to evaluate level of students' understanding of the contents offered in this course. Likewise, "Brief Essays" will evaluate students' capacity of logical thinking about subjects related to the topics of this course, and "Participation" will evaluate how actively a given student will contribute to the progress of this course.
- A successful student is required to obtain more than 60% of the total score of the above-mentioned three elements: Achievement Tests (30%), Brief Essays (40%) and Participation (30%).
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
●毎回授業の最初に、前回までの授業内容に係る質疑応答を実施しますので、前回までの授業内容をよく復習しておいてください。
 
Preview/review   
- At the beginning of each lecture, it is expected to make a brief discussion based on the contents of the previous lectures. Prepare yourself for an active participation.
 
履修上の注意   
●授業の中で言及したり配布したりする各種データや史資料を積極的に活用するほか、日常的に国内外のメディアに目を通して、時事情勢に触れる習慣をつけておいてください。
●授業は日本語で行いますので、日本語の十分な運用能力が必要です。また、バスク語、英語、フランス語、スペイン語のうち、少なくとも2言語の基礎的読解力があることが望ましいです。
 
Notes   
- Lectures in this course will be delivered in Japanese.
- Basic literacy in two languages among Basque, English, French and Spanish would be preferable, although not required.
