Seminar in Classical Literature 1
 
授業の目標   
　古代ギリシア・ローマ文学の作品を取り上げ、解釈・研究上の問題点のありかを知り、検討を加えることによって作品理解を深める。この作業を通して、西洋古典文学の研究方法を身につけ、卒業論文・卒業研究に向けて適切なテーマを判断できるようになることを目標とする。
 
Goals of the course   
Deeply understand the works of ancient Greek and Roman literature by looking at important points in interpreting and examining them. Through this, obtain the methodologies to research Western classical literature, and finally be able to determine appropriate themes of graduation theses and research.
 
授業の概要   
　吉田敦彦著『オイディプスの謎』などの文献とともにソポクレス作の『オイディプス王』と『コロノスのオイディプス』を翻訳によって読みすすめることによって、古代に演じられたギリシア悲劇の実像を探るとともに、作品の含むさまざまな問題性について考える。
　受講者のひとりが担当箇所に関して、問題点を調べ、レジュメにまとめ、報告する。この報告によって提起された問題について議論して検討し、作品理解をより深める。もちろん、全員がテキストの該当箇所に予め目を通し、疑問点を考えておくことが必要である。
 
Overview of the course   
Read 『オイディプスの謎』by Atsuhiko Yoshida, and the Japanese translation of "Oedipus Tyrannus" and "Oidipus Coloneus" by Sophokles. Thorough this, look for the real picture of Greek tragedy performed in ancient times, and think about variety of issues included in these works.

Each student will examine the assigned part of the works, make a summary, and report. Gain in-depth understanding of the works through discussing the questions each student raised in hit/her report.
All members are required to look through other student's assigned part and raise questions prior to the class.

　演習での報告(30%)、討論への参加状況(30%)、および学期末レポート(40%)によって総合的に評価する。

事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
　テキストにはあらかじめ目を通し、文献の指示した箇所を読んだ上で出席すること。

Read the assigned part of literature prior to class.
 
履修上の注意   
　西洋古典文学の講義を履修済みか、平行して履修することが望ましい。
 
Notes   
It is desirable to have completed the course of "Western classical literature", or to take it in parallel.
