日本の古典文学を研究するための基礎を学ぶ。着実に古典作品を読み解くための知識や技能を養い、原典をもとにした研究が行えるレベルに達することを目標にする。

The students will learn the basics of researching Japanese classic literature. The goal for this class is to learn the basics and techniques for steadily conducting reading comprehension of the classics, and reach the level of conducting research based on the original text.

『源氏物語』を古人の注も参照しながら(テキストとして『湖月抄』を用いる)丁寧に読み進めて行く。並行して各自の興味を持つ日本の古典作品の研究を行う。

|
The students will carefully read through “Genjimonogatari” while referring ancient notes (we will use kogetsushou as a text). At the same time, the students will conduct research of Japanese classics which the students have interest in.

In the first several classes, I will conduct preliminary lectures. After that we will read through in turns the “Genjimonogatari”. The class will be progressed by a presentation by the reporter and a discussion. It is desirable that the students will build experiences of examining various things. I would also like to have a look at its translation to foreign languages, so it is desirable that the students use the languages that they major. I would like to consult with the students and determine which volume we will we read through. The chapters that the students have completed reading until last year will be excluded. Also at the same time, I would like the students to set a research task and write a report (essay), in regards to the Japanese classics which each student has interest in. I will also conduct providing help and instructions for that. The class will be progressed by the following. I will also conduct active learning.

輪読箇所を精読してくること。議論に備えて各自問題点疑問点を整理しておくこと。

Read carefully the parts that we will read. Each student should summarize the controversial points and unclarified issues to prepare for the discussions.

基本的な古文の読解力を必要とする。その他については基礎から指導する。原則として源氏物語演習Ⅰから継続すること。ゼミ登録をしていない学生でも、毎回出席し、『源氏物語』を原文で読んでみたい、そのための努力を惜しまない学生であれば歓迎する。テキストの入手については、最初の授業で説明する。

Basic reading comprehension for Japanese classics is required. I will instruct other matters from the basics. As a general rule, the students must continue to Genjimonogatari ExerciseⅡ. I will welcome students who will participate in each class, have the interest in reading the original text of “Genjimonogatari”, and spare no effort for that, even if the students are not registered for seminars. I will explain text acquisition in the first time.
