Literature and Culture of Bengal (1)
 
授業の目標   
近現代のベンガル文学および文化を概観する。特にベンガル人知識人による言語史、文学史および文化論を読むことを通じて、その流れと特質を把握することを目標とする。
 
Goals of the course   
This class is for those students who will write graduation theses on Bengali literature or culture. Before actually setting about each work of graduation thesis, students must survey basic proceding studies on Bengali culture and history. This course aims at grasping the features of Bengali culture through reading some of the classical works of Bengali scholars.
 
授業の概要   
今学期はまず、シュニティクマル・チョットパッダエおよびシュクマル・シェンの著作を通して、ベンガル語史およびベンガル文学史の鳥瞰図を得る。そののちにタゴールなどの近代知識人の文化論について考察を加えていく。必要に応じて作品の講読も行う。
 
Overview of the course   
We are going to survey the works of Sunitikumar Chattapadhyay, Sukumar Sen and Rabindrnath Tagore in this term. Students must look over some source materials and make presentations.

ベンガル語圏の文学、文化関連で卒業論文および卒業研究を予定しているものは必ず受講すること。ベンガル語専攻以外の学生に関しては、語学力に応じて個別に対応する。
 
Notes   
Those student who will write graduation theses on Bengali literature and culture must participate this class. A certain level of Bengali reading skill is required.
