主に英語圏文化にかんする卒論の執筆を予定する３年生を対象に、学術論文の執筆にいたる予備的手順を指導します。基本的文献の読解能力を高め、概念、専門用語などをじゅうぶんに身につけ、４年次に作成する卒業論文の下敷きあるいは一部となり得る論文を最終的に執筆することが到達目標となります。随時、途中報告を行なうことにより、口頭発表の能力も向上させます。

The aim of this course is to help students prepare for the whole process of researching and writing (especially, graduation thesis writing). Students who are interested in the broad areas of cultural phenomena in the English-speaking world will be provided with the technical terms and methods needed for their future researches.

主体的かつ積極的に発表を行ない、理論的考察を深め、興味の範囲を広げるとともに、各方面の能力を遺憾なく発揮できるようにします。準備段階においては、質問を想定した下調べを入念に行なうこと。

Students are required to deliver well-prepared and effective presentations.

だいたいの予定は次のようになると思われます。
第１回 各受講者は夏休み中に読んだ文献の摘要を持参し、口頭で発表し、質問に答える。
第２回 年間の研究計画の見なおし。必要となる参考文献の選定。２学期に読むべきテクストの候補を絞る。
第３回 論文の書式の決定。
第４回 文化研究を主題としたテクスト（秋学期には１篇ないしは２篇）を取りあげ、各自の担当箇所を決めて、精読と討議を開始する。

第１回の授業から、すべての授業において入念な下準備を行なったうえで出席すること。参加する姿勢の熱心さ、授業にたいする貢献度を５０パーセント、最終的レポートの内容を５０パーセントとして評価します。

Grades will be based on preparation before class (50%) and the written work (50%).
|
|
|
|
各回ごとのテーマに則した下調べを行なうこと。テクストや必要な参考文献、研究書、研究論文などを主体的に読み進み、疑問の箇所がないようにしておくこと。
|
|
|
|
Habitual perusal of the assigned work is essential. Also, the importance of the note-taking must not be neglected.
|
|
|
|
３年次において担当教員による専修専門科目「ヨーロッパ文化研究（講義）」（春学期・秋学期開講、月・５）を同時に受講していることを履修条件とします。担当教員の授業にこれまで出席する機会のなかった者は、文化研究に関連する他の授業も数多く聴講し、基礎的な知識を身につけること。綿密な予習、復習を欠かさないこと。

1. several different types of dictionaries
2. a step-by-step training in logical thinking
3. the accumulation of theoretical or practical knowledge.
