Thesis writing in applied linguistics (J)
 
授業の目標   
応用言語学における卒業論文作成の実際をマスターする。自分で関心のある分野に関して研究テーマを精査し、先行研究をまとめ問題点を整理、その中から研究課題を絞り込む技術を身につける。さらに研究設問を適切に設定し、それに答えるための研究方法のヴァリエーションを身につける。
 
Goals of the course   
The students will aim to master the practice of writing a graduation thesis in applied linguistics. The students will carefully examine the research themes related with the areas the students are interested in, summarize the prior researches and its issues, and learn the techniques to narrow down the research issues among them. In addition, the students will appropriately set a research issue, and learn the valuations of the research methods in order to answer the issue.
 
授業の概要   
後期は具体的に卒業論文作成のためのデータ収集・処理、論文の作成を行う。
 
Overview of the course   
Specifically in the second term, the students will conduct data collecting and processing for writing a graduation thesis, and then will write the graduation thesis.

事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
自主的な研究課題設定，データ収集，分析などが求められるので，十分取り組めるように基礎知識と技能を磨いておくこと。
 
Preview/review   
The students should improve his or her basic skills and techniques so he or she can sufficiently approach to this class, as individual setting of the research task, data collecting, and analyzing are required for this class.
 
履修上の注意   
１）英語論文を読める英語力を前提とする。
２）発表とディスカッションを積極的に行う。
３）卒業論文を全員完成、期日までに提出する。
 
Notes   
1) The class will be progressed assuming that the students have the English skills to read English essays.
2) Presentations and discussions will actively be conducted.
3) All of the students will aim to complete and submit the graduation theses by the deadline.
