Title（English）   
Thesis writing in applied linguistics
 
授業の目標   
応用言語学における卒業論文作成の実際をマスターする。自分で関心のある分野に関して研究テーマを精査し、先行研究をまとめ問題点を整理、その中から研究課題を絞り込む技術を身につける。さらに研究設問を適切に設定し、それに答えるための研究方法のヴァリエーションを身につける。
 
Goals of the course   
(1) become familiar with the basic concepts of research and research design
(2) become familiar with varieties of research methods and their advantages and disadvantages
(3) demonstrate the skills of designing your own research, taking into account possible variables
(4) prepare and present your own research proposal
 
授業の概要   
前期は研究テーマを各自で分野の先行文献を整理しながらしぼりこむ。同時に研究方法に関する基礎的な知識を身につける。後期は具体的に卒業論文作成を行う。
 
Overview of the course   
This seminar is designed to provide the participants with practical knowledge and skills in writing a graduation thesis. To this end, the participants will be trained to demonstrate the understanding of the basic principles of what is good research and how to prepare a good research proposal. By the end of this seminar, every student should decide on a specific research topic and propose a research design to be reviewed by the supervisor.
