Japanese into English Translation
 
授業の目標   
翻訳とは単語の置き換えではなく別の言語で意味を伝える作業であることを学ぶ。
 
Goals of the course   
The goal is to learn how to translate Japanese accurately into easy-to-understand English.
 
授業の概要   
直訳、意訳の違いを考えながら、ベストな訳出を目指す。原文の意味を十分理解し、理解した内容を正確に分かり易く表現する英語力を習得する。文芸、文化、環境など多様な分野の原文から英語らしい訳文を書くのに必要な発想の転換を学ぶ。訳文の言葉の選択や表現法を検討し、文法上の疑問点や文化的な違いから起こりうる問題などを解明していく。英文記事なども読み英語表現を広げ、養った語彙力、語感を翻訳演習で応用していく。
 
Overview of the course   
Lessons are organized to encourage students to think meaning and context carefully and write accurately. Students will give presentations on assignments and translate Japanese texts in a variety of fields - literature, environment, etc. - into English in class, compare translations and discuss problems. English articles on the subjects will be used to build up your vocabulary and expressions.

受身に受講するのではなく、授業をブレーンストーミングの場と考え自由に発言する。自習にあたっては客観的な自己評価を意識する。
