The course develops Students' understanding of communication styles specific to Japan and 1 other country each term. By the end of the course, the students will have greater:
• Appreciation of communication styles and the cultures in which they are used;
• Awareness, skills and knowledge of nonverbal communication including micro-behaviour and the mechanism of bio-electromagnetism;
• Ability to use code-switching strategies with people from different walks of life;
• Capacity to 'listen-beyond-words' and use inquiry questions to achieve a deeper level of dialogue and trust.
• Ability to communicate culturally-specific concepts and describe culturally specific objects/practices.
• Confidence to communicate in an informed and credible way in 1-to-1, small group and whole-class settings.

This course uses the A-S-K (Awareness-Skills-Knowledge) approach and EQ-SQ-CQ-GQ model. It develops Students ability to communicate using presentation and dialogue skills suitable for different cultures.
