Experimental Phonetics for a Graduation Thesis 1（J)
 
授業の目標   
人間の言葉の音に関わる研究テーマで卒論を作成することを目標とする。テーマによってどのような方法でアプローチするのがよいかは異なるので、研究方法についてはテーマを決めてから授業を通して考えてゆく。（実験・測定の手法を用いてもよいし、その他の方法を用いて音声資料を扱ってもよい。）
 
Goals of the course   
The students will aim to write a graduation thesis on a research theme related to the sounds of human speech. The methods of approach will differ depending on the themes, so the students will determine their themes and then consider research methods as the class progresses. (The students can use the methods of experimenting and measuring or can utilize phonetic materials through other methods.)
 
授業の概要   
人間のことばの音に対する受講者の関心を掘り下げることから始める。アプローチの手法と、その結果から考察へと論を進めることを学ぶ。具体的なことは授業を通して、履修者との議論で進めてゆく。
 
Overview of the course   
The class will start by delving deep into the students’ interests in the sounds of human speech. The students will learn to advance discussions from methods of approach to considering their results. Specifics will be determined as the course progresses and through discussions with the participants.

成績評価の方法・基準   
毎週の授業出席時の報告を平常点として重視する。卒論執筆経過報告会および卒論中間発表会の配布資料と口頭発表の内容とゼミ合宿での発表および参加度を、総合評価する。
目安としては、毎回の授業時の参加度50パーセント、口頭発表15パーセント、ゼミ合宿での発表および参加度35パーセント。
 
Grading system for assessment   
Student in-class presentations each week will be emphasized in the marks given for class participation. Comprehensive grading will be based on the distributed materials and content of the graduation thesis writing progress report presentation and mid-term presentation, and the presentation and degree of participation at the seminar training camp.
As a guideline for grades, the degree of participation for each class will account for 50 percent, presentations will account for 15 percent and the presentation and degree of participation at the seminar camp will account for 35 percent.
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
履修者は毎週授業時に、自身のテーマについて1週間でどの程度進んだか（何を考えたか）を報告する。必ず資料を作成して発表すること。
 
Preview/review   
The students will give a presentation each week on how far they have progressed (their thoughts) over the past week on their themes. The students must prepare materials for their presentations.
 
履修上の注意   
履修者は毎週授業時に、自身のテーマについて1週間でどの程度進んだか（何を考えたか）を報告する。特に進展がないと自己判断する場合は、この報告においてどんなところで止まっているかを自分の言葉で説明する。
卒論執筆経過報告会を2ヶ月に1回程度設定し、全員が配布資料を用いて口頭発表を行う。さらに、夏合宿では卒論中間発表会を行い、卒論としての最終的な結論への見通しまで含めて発表する。
履修者は他の履修者の発表のときは聴衆として積極的に参加することが求められる。
実験音声学演習と同時履修してもかまわないが、負担が大きいので同時履修はできるだけ避けること。
 
Notes   
The students will give a presentation each week on how far they have progressed (their thoughts) on their themes. If the students have determined themselves that there has been no particular development, the students must then describe in their own words where the problem lies.
Graduation thesis writing progress report presentations will be set at about once every two months and each student will conduct a presentation using distributed materials. In addition, students will conduct mid-term presentations on their graduation thesis at the summer training camp, and the presentations will cover the final outlook of the graduation thesis.
Participants will be required to act as an audience and actively participate in the presentations of the other participants. The students may take Experimental Phonetics concurrently, but that will result in a large workload, so students should try to avoid taking it concurrently.
