授業の目標   
音声物理学、音響音声学、音声生理学、聴覚音声学などの基礎理論の解説を行い、言葉の音を対象とした実験・測定の方法論とデータ解析を学ぶ。言葉の音を研究する態度を身につけ、実践することを目標とする。
 
Goals of the course   
The lecture is the basis of investigation sounds as language which provides fundamentals of sound physics, sound physiology, and auditory phonetics as the basis for further learning methods of experiments and measurements on sounds as human language.
 
授業の概要   
前半はIPAトレーニングを行い、並行して音声物理学、音響音声学、音声生理学、聴覚音声学などの基礎理論を学ぶ。次に、分節音および超分節的要素について、実験・測定を行いながら結果の解釈について検討する。
 
Overview of the course   
The first half of the course is assigned to IPA training, along with which fundamentals of sound physics, sound physiology, and auditory phonetics will be given. Then, experiments and measuring of segmental and suprasegmental sounds will be taken up, and exercises of consideration as to the results will be done.

成績評価の方法・基準   
7回のテスト(IPAトレーニング4回を含む)と、2回のレポート提出により総合評価する。
目安として、テスト1回が10パーセント、レポート1回が15パーセント。
テストおよびレポートは1回でも欠けると単位は出さない。(病気などやむを得ない理由を除いて追試験を行わない)
 
Grading system for assessment   
Evaluation will be given on the basis of seven examinations (including four IPA examinations) and two reports. The credit will not be given for students who miss even one of these examinations. No reexamination will be given unless special consideration is necessary, such as absence due to illness [with a medical certificate].
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
教員の指示に従って、受講前の予習と受講後の復習を行うこと。

Preparation and review for lessons will be instructed by the lecturer.
 
履修上の注意   
言語研究入門(音声学入門)を履修済みであることが必要。音声学概論（月曜５限：益子）を履修済みであることが望ましい。
第1回の授業時に確認テストを行うので必ず出席すること。
実験音声学演習と実験音声学講義は同じ年度に履修しないことが望ましいが、やむを得ない場合は同時履修すること。
 
Notes   
Students are requested to having completed the course in Introduction to Phonetics 1 and Basic phonetics A before registering the course. Attending the first day of the lecture is a MUST since the first obligatory assessment test will be given. Registering both this lecture and IPA training course in the same academic year is not allowed, although having the IPA training first, then registering this course is allowed. Students who wish to register exercise on experimental phonetics and lecture on phonetics are advised not to take both in the same year, but to take successively. Although not advisable, taking both of them in the same year would be allowed.
