日本のロックバンド、サザンオールスターズは、ヒット曲「ピースとハイライト」のなかでこう歌っています。「教科書は、現代史をやる前に時間切れ そこがいちばん知りたいのに、なんでそうなっちゃうんだろ」(詞：桑田圭祐)。今日の複雑な世界情勢を理解するには、現代史の把握が不可欠です。そこでこの授業では1989年から2017年までの現代史を学びます。この講義では「グローバリゼーション」についての包括的な知識を身につけることを目標とします。

In popular tune "Peace and Hi-lite",the Japanese rock group the Southern All Stars sings as follows. "Before we learn contemporary history, the textbook runs out of time. That's what we want to know most. How could it be?" (lyric by Keisuke Kuwata). To understand the complex world affairs of today, it is necessary to grasp the contemporary history.Therefore, this course will cover the contemporary history from 1989 to 2016. The goal of this lecture is to acquire general knowledge about the globalization.

2016年1月、イギリスのＮＰＯが驚くべきレポートを公表しました。オックスファムによれば、現在、世界で最も裕福な１％の人びとが99％の人たちよりも多額の資産を所有しているとされます。こうした極端な貧富の格差をはじめ、いま世界では様々な経済的格差や不平等が広がり、それがテロや紛争の原因となっています。グローバリゼーションの中で怪物化した資本主義が世界を食い荒らし、民主主義を危機にさらしているともいえる状況です。この授業では、現代の資本主義と民主主義に焦点をあて、2011年の「ウォール街占拠運動」や2015年のＳＥＡＬＤｓの運動のフィールドワークにもとづきながら、「選挙ではなく占拠を」から「占拠から選挙へ」という流れのほか、現代世界を覆う「分断」や「格差」を追います。

In january 2016, UK-based NPO published astonishing report. According to Oxfam,the richest 1% has as much wealth as the 99% of the world combined. Including this extreme gap between rich and poor, various economic disparities and inequalities are getting wider and are becoming the cause of conflicts and terrorism in this world.It can be said that monster Capitalism devours world and endangers Democracy in Globalization. This course will focus on contemporary capitalism and democracy and follow a current stream from "occupation not election" to "occupation to election" on based on the fieldwork in Occupy Wall Street in 2011 and SEALDs movement in 2015.
