An Introductory Survey of Translation Studies

トランスレーション・スタディーズにおける主要な論議を概観的にとらえる。 そのうえで、翻訳という行為・翻訳作品に対する理解を深める。 近代日本文化の形成過程において翻訳がどのような位置を占めてきたかを理解する。

「トランスレーション・スタディーズ」におけるいくつかの主要な論点をたどることによって、翻訳とは何かを考える。授業では複数の理論的連関についての概観的な講義を行うとともに、主要なテクストを読んできてもらって、それについて注釈を行うかたちもとる(受講者による発表も取り入れる)。また、実際にいくつかの翻訳テクスト(あるいは翻訳行為に関わるテクスト)を読んでゆく。

The participants will consider what translation is, learning the principal discourses of translation studies. They will not only be given survey lectures on theoretical questions about translation, but also give some presentations on specific texts by themselves, which will be discussed afterwards in class.
