Introduction to Literary Studies

文学・文化研究における基礎的概念やキーワードについて知り、あわせて研究の実際的な方法の基本について学ぶ。文学・文化について研究の糸口を自分で見つけることができるようになることを目標とする。

Students will learn the fundamental concepts of literature and literary research, as well as basic research methods. It aim of the class to for students to find their own keys to literature and culture.

新しい言語観が文学・文化の捉え方にどのような変化をもたらしたかについて解説するとともに、近年に生まれてきた物語論や新しいテクスト論を中心として、文学作品を取り上げながら説明する。

While describing the way in which new perceptions of language have influenced approaches to literature and culture, literary works will be taken up and explained predominantly using narratology and the new text theory that have emerged in modern times.

学期末のレポート(60%)と毎回のレスポンスシート(40%)をもとに、受講時の平常点を加味して評価する。

Evaluations will be based upon the term-end report (60%) and response sheets from each class (40%), as well as class participation.

配布したプリントまたは指定した参考文献をあらかじめ読んだ上で、毎回の授業に出席すること。また、毎回の授業で配布したプリントによって復習すること。

Handouts and assigned reference materials must be read prior to attending each class.

It is recommended that students considering registering for the Cultural and Literary Studies course take this class. Pre-study and review of lectures must be done as instructed by instructors.
