授業の目標
[Horiguchi, Tuesday]
The main aim of this course is to improve English skills through reading (understanding and summarizing) and discussing authentic media texts on various topics as well as practicing making presentations on media texts chosen by students. It is also expected that students not only familiarize themselves with news stories but also develop critical perspectives and expand their knowledge on current issues.

[Wiz, Thursday]
In this intensive course, we will explore ideas about the human mind, learn about past and current trends in technology, attempt to assess how education has adapted to technological changes, and try to discern future trends based on current developments. Most importantly, we will work together to help you define and develop essential intellectual and academic skills that will benefit you in the future, such as critical thinking, creative thinking, and problem solving skills.

授業の概要
[Horiguchi, Tuesday]
In the first half of the course, the instructor will provide articles on current issues including education, sex/gender, and race (the topics may change depending on student interests), and we will practice quick reading, summarizing and expressing opinions based on the articles. In the second half of the course, students will make presentations based on articles (written in English) of their choice and we will have class discussions. Class will be conducted in English. Since the instructor is an anthropologist, anthropological approaches to current cultural issues will also be introduced throughout the course.

[Wiz, Thursday]
The course will be a combination of mini-lectures, videos, readings, discussions, student presentations, problem solving activities, and creative thinking exercises.
