英語で書かれた言語学の文献（概説書や研究論文）を読むことで、英語のリーディングスキルを向上させるとともに、言語学についての基礎知識を身につけ、言語学における重要な用語や考え方について自分なりに説明できるようになることを目標とする。さらに、学術英語を受信・発信する際に必要な語彙を増やす。

This course is intended to prepare students to take lectures and seminars in English about the same or related fields as language and communication.

英語で書かれた言語学の文献（概説書や研究論文）を読む。言語学における基礎的な用語や考え方を学び、ことばや言語習得について考察を行う。授業では、学生による発表と担当教員による解説、指定箇所の精読を行う。授業の最初には毎回小テストを行う。
