The aims of this course are to improve the students' reading skills and to make a deeper understanding of general knowledge of language through reading various topics in linguistics.

言語学の大家であるDavid Crystalによる『A Little Book of Language』を題材にして、毎回一章を丁寧に読んでいく。毎回の授業では、内容理解に関する小テストを行うと共に、担当者による発表を行ってもらう。
|
|
|
Students are required to read one essay on linguistics in each class. Quizzes will be given regularly at the beginning of the class.

一回の授業で一章(5〜7ページ)づつ進む。毎回、授業の最初に、テキストに関する小テストを行うので、しっかり予習をして授業に臨むこと。出席数が2/3以下の場合は不可とする。詳しい内容については、初回のガイダンスで総括的に説明する。
