Academic English: Theme-based [Multicultural Japan and the US]

The goal of this course is twofold: 1) to increase critical awareness of race/ethnicity and social minority issues, and 2) to develop multi-perspectives on pluralism in the US and Japan.
|
|
|
|
The class will be interactive, including presentations and discussions. Students will be assigned to introduce one minority group in the US (Mid-term) and another in Japan (Final) to the class, provide their current issues, and facilitate class discussions.

Students are constantly required to read and write summaries of homework articles and critically review the contents in order to actively participate in class discussions.

Students need to show up at the first class meeting for enrollment. Also, be punctual.
