This course aims to build competence in the following areas:
1. Organising a variety of essay styles clearly and logically
2. Using academic vocabulary and styles of prose effectively
3. Citing and referencing sources correctly
4. Proofreading, editing, and revising multiple essay drafts

Academic Writing (Advanced) introduces the formal structures and styles of academic writing. The course focuses on two primary areas. The first is essay organization: we will examine the fundamentals of outlining and structuring essays as well as practice writing a variety of essay forms. The second is academic language: we will study the specific vocabulary, conventions, and styles of writing particular to university research.
