標準的なアメリカ英語の発音を身に着け、自然な速度の会話やニュース、簡単な英語の歌などを聞きとれるようになることを目指す。

To learn General American English pronunciation.
To improve listening skills to the level necessary to understand natural-speed English conversation, news clips, simple English songs, etc.

教科書を用いて英語の発音の基礎を学んでいく。同時に、英語の映画やニュース、歌などを使い、実際の発話における音の変化とリズムに注意を払いながら聞きとり練習を行う。授業では毎回小テストを行う。また学期末には授業で学んだことを踏まえたリスニング問題の作成をグループで行い、授業内でその成果を発表する。

By working through the textbook, students will learn the basics of English pronunciation. The class also uses English films, news clips, songs, etc. for listening practices, with particular attention to sound changes and rhythm patterns in actual speech. Quizzes will be given in each class. Students will also be assigned to create a listening quiz by making use of what they have learned through the course and make a presentation about it in class.
