Academic Communication

Goals of the course
What is Academic Communication? The first word academic is defined as, "as or relating to a college..." The second word communication is a derivation of communicate, which means, "to give information about (something) to someone by speaking, writing, moving your hands, etc." Of the four basic language skills, only two apply: speaking and writing when teaching communication because when a person reads or listens, that person does not communicate. We combine these two definitions and arrive at the purpose of Sophia University's Academic Communication course. The purpose of this course is to teach students to communicate (through speaking, writing, body language, etc.) at a university level.
