Translation of Mongolian Songs
 
授業の目標   
近年インターネットによって日本にいても接することが容易になったモンゴル国の歌謡をとりあげ、歌詞の意味や背景を理解し、適切な日本語に翻訳できるようになることを目指します。また、歌謡をつうじてモンゴル文化への関心を飛躍的に高めることを目指します。
 
Goals of the course   
When you have completed the course you should be able to:
1) Understand Mongolian songs as well as their cultural and social background,
2) Translate lyrics of Mongolian songs into appropriate Japanese phrases,
3) Enhance your knowledge on Mongolian culture by listening to Mongolian songs.
 
授業の概要   
モンゴルの芸能一般の中に歌謡を位置づけ、歌謡の様々なジャンルについてひととおり理解してから、受講者がYOUTUBEなどで選んだモンゴル国の歌謡の歌詞を訳していきます。
 
Overview of the course   
Mongolian popular music and performing arts have become easy for us to access owing to the internet today. This course will first provide an overview of Mongolian performing arts and pops by showing a number of examples from genres such as traditional folk songs, hip-hop and rock. Then students will translate Mongolian songs which they found and selected from YouTube or other sources.

第1回 オリエンテーション：授業の進め方・成績評価について説明します。また、ヒップホップ、ロックをはじめとする様々なジャンルのモンゴル歌謡を聞いていきます。
第2回 モンゴル歌謡の諸ジャンル（続き）
第3回 モンゴルの歌謡を中心にした芸能（とくに伝統芸能）について、様々な例を見ていきます。
第4回 歌詞翻訳（１）課題に選ばれた歌謡の歌詞を訳します。

成績評価の方法・基準   
授業での評価と(40%)と試験の結果(60%)で評価します。授業での評価には、実際の授業だけでなく、毎回メールに添付して提出してもらう授業でとりあげた歌詞の翻訳も含みます。
 
Grading system for assessment   
Class participation and the result of the examination will be worth 40% and 60% of the final grade, respectively. Class participation includes your translations submitted after every class.
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
歌詞は受講者各自が用意します。
 
Preview/review   
You will prepare the lyrics of the songs to be translated in next class from the internet or other sources.
 
履修上の注意   
一回の授業で３～４曲のペースで進みます。授業のあとにメールで翻訳を提出してもらいますが、ほかの受講者の訳をコピーしたり、またほかの受講者に自分の訳をコピーさせたりすることはできません。ただし、連名で翻訳することは認めます。5回欠席すると「不可」になります。
 
Notes   
Three or four songs will be translated in every class. You will submit your translations of them in five days after the class. Your translation should be original and you will not be allowed to copy others' translations or to let others copy yours. However, collaboration will be encouraged. You may translate in your joint names. Students with five absences will be given a "D".
