This course is designed for first-year Turkish Studies students.
The Goal of the course is for them to be able to understand and speak basic level of Turkish at the end of the year.

The text book is "Resimlerle Turkce" and a photocopy of this book will be handed out at the first lecture.
The course covers one chapter per class.
Two chapters are covered every week.
Students are expected to review all material after each class. There is a 5 to 10 minutes verbal exam at the beginning of each class (active learning).
Students who have looked at the material to be covered on the day before the class will get higher grades.

The class covers subjects in the book `Resimlerle Turkce`. One subject will be covered at each 90 minutes class.
Two chapters are covered every week.

|
|
Grading will be based on attendance, class participation, verbal exams, pop-up quizzes, homework, mid-term exam and final exam.
Class participation and homework are most important. There are penalties for handing in homework late.
|
|
|
|
|
Students are expected to hand in their homework in time (one day before the next class).
They are also encouraged to take a look at subjects to be covered, prior to the class.
