次の三点を目標とする。
（１）ラオスの民話、小説、エッセー、ドキュメンタリー作品などの内容を正しく理解し、自然な日本語に翻訳することができる。
（２）文法と語彙の知識を応用し、テキストの内容を理解した後で自分の意見をラオス語で書いたり述べることができる。
（３）ラオス語らしい文章の構成方法を学び、ラオス語のコミュニケーションをはかる場面に応用する姿勢を養う。

The goals of this class are as follows;
(1) to understand contexts of Lao documentary films, folk tales, modern short stories, and essays, and to translate into natural Japanese,
(2) to summarize the contexts and to describe one's own opinions, and
(3) to learn the structure of Lao language and ways of communication in Lao language.

ラオスの民話、小説、エッセーを読んだり、映画やドキュメンタリー映像を観て、下記の順序で「読む・書く・話す」の総合的な語学能力の向上を図る。
１）テキストを日本語に翻訳する
２）テキストにある重要語句、重要表現について学ぶ
３）内容についての質疑応答練習を行う

Students improve three language skills, "speaking, reading and writing", watching through Lao documentary films, and reading folk tales, modern short stories, and essays, with the following ways;
(1) to translate into Japanese,
(2) to learn vocabularies and idiomatic expressions, and
(3) to have discussions on the texts.

授業参加への積極性(10％)、課題（20％）、小テスト(20％)、学期末試験(50％)により評価する。

Grades will be based on presentation in class(10%), assignments(20%), tests(20%) and final examination(50%).

教員の指示に従って受講前の予習、および受講後の復習を行うこと。テキストについては、あらかじめ辞書で意味を調べ、音読しておくこと。また疑問点を授業中に質問できるように準備しておくこと。

Students are required to prepare for and review class according to instructions of the teacher.
Students also have to read and translate texts into Japanese as a preparation for class.
