Intermediate to Advanced Arabic
 
授業の目標   
目標①　文章に、正しくシャクル（発音記号）を付けることができる
目標②　シャクルを付けた文章を、正しく発音することができる
目標③　初見の文章を、辞書を用いて自力で日本語に訳出することができる
目標④　アラビア語の情報に、自らアクセスすることができる
目標⑤　書かれている文章を批判的に検証し、事実であるか否かを判断することができる
目標⑥　時代的背景を理解したうえで、アラビア語の文章を日本語に訳出することができる
 
Goals of the course   
At the end of the course, the students will be able to
(1) Add shakul (a phonetic symbol) to sentences
(2) Pronounce the sentences with the help of added shakul
(3) Translate sentences into Japanese by using a dictionary
(4) Browse the Internet or any other database in Arabic
(5) Check the contents of the Arabic text by referring to other materials
(6) Translate sentences into Japanese in the appropriate historical context
 
授業の概要   
この講義では、アラビア語の文法や用例の学習を軸に、近現代アラブ世界が経験した大きな事件の一つである「パレスチナ問題」についても理解を深めていきます。また、アラビア語を用いた研究の組み立て方についても適宜紹介し、卒業論文の執筆にも役立つようなミニレクチャーも取り入れていきます。
 
Overview of the course   
The course teaches Arabic language at intermediate to advanced proficiency level, with specific focus on reading and translation skills. The knowledge of Arabic language would help one read and understand information from most of the Middle Eastern countries. In addition, this course offers basic and useful tips to use Arabic materials in the graduation thesis.

成績評価の方法・基準   
・以下の３点によって評価します（ボーナス課題については別途加算されます）
　　１．授業中のワークへの参加　　　　　　（20%：到達目標の②、⑤に対応）
　　２．アクティブ・ラーニング課題の提出　（20%：到達目標の③、④に対応）
　　３．学期末試験　　　　　　　　　　　　（60%：到達目標の①、⑥に対応）
・上記を総合して以下の基準で評価します　（S：100〜90点、 A:89〜80点、 B:79〜70点、 C:69〜60点、 F：59点以下）
・適宜、加点式のボーナス課題を出します。提出は任意ですが、自身の理解の促進、ならびに成績に加算されるボーナス・ポイント（各5点）を獲得できます。
 
Grading system for assessment   
(1) Active participation in the work – 20%
(2) Learning assignment reports – 20%
(3) Final examination – 60%
* Bonus points (5 points) can be scored/earned by submitting bonus assignments
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
演習で指定された課題に取り組み、口頭で報告できるように準備してくること。
 
Preview/review   
・Week 2-5: The students will translate Arabic sentences into Japanese and check them by referring to previous Japanese translation.
・Week 8-11: The students will translate Arabic articles by their own efforts.
 
履修上の注意   
・欠席者分の資料は取り置きしません。欠席した場合はクラスメイトにコピーなどをさせてもらうようにしてください。
・試験をやむを得ず欠席する場合は必ず事前に連絡を取ってください。無断での欠席の場合は、単位の認定が難しくなります。
