オセアニア及びアフリカの国々における教育を入り口に文化、社会、歴史、民族、国家、家族などを学び、現代社会の様々な事象や課題について考察するとともに、それらを通じて可能なかぎり英語を用いることを目標とする。

This course aims to provide students with basic knowledge and a better understanding of the contemporary education and societies in Oceania and African countries. Students will study a variety of topics and issues of the societies through education: e.g., ethnicity, history, national identity, and family.

教育を共通の切り口に、オンライン素材などを用いながら学生個々の興味に合わせて特定の地域について学ぶ。プレゼンテーションなどにより、それぞれの課題意識の共有をし、ディスカッションによって多角的な視点を獲得する。可能なかぎり英語を用い、特定の課題について基礎的な英語を用いて論じる下地を作る。

The main focus of this course is acquiring general knowledge about a specific area according to students' individual interests. 'Education' is set to be as the common entrance of the issues, but students can go further along their own interests. Students are required to have active discussion and presentation regularly. Active use of English and supportive and rich discussion is highly expected.

毎回の授業には、指定された参考文献をあらかじめ読んだ上で出席すること。また別途指示により、オンライン教材による学習も課される。
