授業の目標   
この授業では生成AIを応用言語学の研究および外国語教育の教授と学習に活用する方法に関する基礎知識を、最新のジャーナル論文の批判的レビューとディスカッションを通して培う。また生成AIを活用するノウハウの共有を各自のレポートなどを通じて行う。
 
Goals of the course   
In this class, students will cultivate basic knowledge on how to apply generative AI to research in applied linguistics and to teaching and learning in foreign language education through critical reviews and discussions of the latest journal articles. They will also share their know-how on using generative AI through sharing their own use reports.
 
授業の概要   
集中講義なので、生成AIの基本的な知識を講義した後、各自で生成AIを使った研究論文を最新のジャーナルから探してきて、それらを各自が知りたい応用分野に分類して一定時間リーディングを行い、戻ってきてレポートし合う。この間に、生成AIを使う際の主要モデルやプロンプトの作り方、APIでの利用法、RAG、fine tuning などの最適化の手法などの概念をワークショップで理解してもらう。
 
Overview of the course   
As this is a concentrated course, after covering the basic knowledge of generative AI, each student will find research papers on the use of generative AI in applied linguistics from the latest journals, classify them into the applied fields they want to know about, and read them for a certain amount of time during class time, then come back and report on them to each other. During this time, students will be expected to understand the concepts of the main models used in generative AI, prompt engineering, how to use it with APIs, optimization methods such as RAG and fine tuning, etc., through workshops.

成績評価の方法・基準   
ジャーナル論文のレポート、個人のユースケースのレポート、
ハンズオンのワークショップの出来映え、授業中の討議の姿勢や発言内容などを総合的に勘案して評価する
 
Grading system for assessment   
The evaluation will be based on a comprehensive assessment of the following: the report on the journal paper, the report on the individual use case, the quality of the hands-on workshop, and the attitude and content of the discussions during the class.
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
ジャーナル論文の探索・整理・発表資料の作成などが講義外で必要になる。生成AIの利用環境をPC上に作るなどの際に人によっては事前・事後に時間をとってPC環境の整備が必要となる。おおよそ集中講義以外に10時間程度は必要と推測される。
 
Preview/review   
You will need to do things outside of the lectures, such as searching for journal articles, organizing them, and creating presentation materials. Depending on the person, you may need to spend some time before and after the lectures to set up your PC environment, such as creating an environment for using generative AI on your PC. It is estimated that you will need about 10 hours outside of the intensive lectures.
