Goals of the course   
This is an advanced seminar on contentious politics, intended for those who have taken the introductory course on the subject (PCS Research Methodology) from this instructor.
 
授業の概要   
 
Overview of the course   
This course adopts a seminar style, with weekly reading assignments and a term paper requirement. Needless to say, full attendance and active participation in classroom discussions are mandatory.

Grading system for assessment   
Active classroom participation and weekly assignments: 50%
Term paper (ALH1 and ALH2): 50%

Preview/review   
Weekly assignments will be given over the duration of the course.


All participants are required to write and submit an original research paper by the end of the semester. The central question and outline of the term paper will require the instructor’s approval before the participant begins to write his or her paper.
