Goals of the course   
To understand the causes and consequences of in- or out-group attitudes and economic inequality with particular reference to democratic consolidation and public policy.
 
授業の概要   
 
Overview of the course   
Why do some people or societies tolerate discrimination and inequality while others do not? How do social identity and income concerns affect national politics? This course explores the causes and consequences of of in-group / out-group attitudes and income inequality? The relevant literatures pertain to cleavages, social identity, prejudice, tolerance, preferences for redistribution, voting behavior, and party systems.
