Even if people today are not paying attention to it in their daily routine, the world is going about its business with various forms of international cooperation whether it is economic, developmental, humanitarian, environment, climate change, human rights, technology or peace and security. Through a combination of lectures (slides), case studies, group discussions and video clips, the course will explore international cooperation, its theoretical foundations, various forms, levels and practices, as well as emerging trends and challenges. It will examine the roles of states, international organizations, and non-state actors in addressing global issues. This will heighten the students’ level of awareness and appreciation of contemporary agenda in the international arena particularly those within the ambit of the United Nations. At the same time, the students will be able to recognize the direct link between domestic interests and broader global affairs, and the inter-connectedness of all peoples.
