Climate Change and Development
 
授業の目標   
本講義の目的は、気候変動問題への入門である。その原因と影響や気候変動過程の責任に関する知見を説明する。
　また、本講義は次の点に関して学生の理解を助ける。
　1．気候変動のトピックに関する科学的根拠や、それがいかに気候変動に関するローカル、リージョナル、世界的な視角に適合するかを理解すること。
　2．ルワンダの気候変動に関する国家戦略を用いて、気候変動にどのように対応しようとしているのかを理解すること。
 
Goals of the course   
- The objectives of this course are to provide introduction to climate change, its causes and effects. Knowledge about the green house gases and process responsible for climate change will be given in this course.
- The course will help students in understanding the scientific evidence supporting each topic and how it fits into the local, regional, and worldwide perspectives in terms of Climate Change.
- It will also help students to understand climate change coping mechanisms in Rwanda through National strategy of Transformation and its vision 2050 and be able to compare with Japanese scenarios.
 
授業の概要   
世界的な関心事であり、ルワンダを含むアフリカにとっては特に重大な問題である気候変動について、持続可能な開発のための緩和策と適応策について、理解を深める。
 
Overview of the course   
Climate change is a worldwide concern and a specific issue for African countries including Rwanda. Activities of human beings caused a climate crisis which threatens the earth and humanity. The continuous emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) alters the climate and increases the rapid warming of our planet. It causes catastrophes and disasters which kill millions of people and this makes climate change a challenge to our time. Therefore this course equips students with knowledge regarding mitigation and adaptation to climate change for sustainable development

Notes   
Fundamental knowledge on climate change is exchanged in lectures and seminars, and academic field trips will be planed (Visiting rivers and mountains around). Face-to-face interaction, Presentation, Group work and Assignment/individual research will be used
